The seventh day of the Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam began promisingly, with wind from the right direction and sunny skies, but in the early afternoon the wind began to fluctuate between onshore and offshore. Only shortly before the end of the day did the conditions allow the women's single elimination to be completed with gusts of up to 25 knots. The men did not get back on the water.

The 14th world championship title within reach

Sarah-Quita Offringa delivered the best heat of the event so far in her semi-final against Lina Erpenstein. The 13-time freestyle world champion showed a whole repertoire of sophisticated moves and also landed her first textbook backloop in a freestyle heat. As the Aruban is in impressive form, it was a big challenge for anyone to beat her. Offringa rode a brilliant final in which she didn't fall once on the inside and deserved to win the single elimination. The 32-year-old thus takes a big step towards freestyle world champion title number 14 and 21 overall.

Oda Brødholt in top form, Huvermann wins repechage against Lisa Kloster

Oda Brødholt was unable to stop Sarah-Quita in the final, but the Norwegian will still be pleased to have finished second in the single elimination. Brødholt was able to rekindle her rivalry with Maaike Huvermann in the semi-finals after Huvermann won the repechage against Lisa Kloster in Heat 13b. In recent years, Huvermann has often come out on top in this encounter, but today it was Brødholt who managed to turn the tide with an impressive series of manoeuvres, much to Brødholt's delight when she heard the news.

Huvermann didn't look quite as confident as we are used to at the start of the event, but the reigning runner-up was still able to secure third place in the single elimination ahead of Lina Erpenstein. However, it was a close run, with only 2.7 points separating the two riders. Lina Erpenstein showed that she mainly comes from the wave discipline when she landed a stalled forward and tabletop forward, putting Huvermann under a lot of pressure. Huvermann took up the challenge to knock Erpenstein out of the race. In the end, the German was one move short of the score on the control board and Huvermann secured the podium place in the single elimination.
