The Alacati Wind Fest was also the PWA Youth & Junior World Cup for the second time. A total of 94 youngsters competed on fin and foil.

94 starters, something many a World Cup on the professional tour can only dream of. Young riders in the U13, U15, U17 and U21 classes met at the Alacati Wind Fest in Turkey. The event is hosted and organised by the Cagla Kubat Windsurf Academy. There were separate classifications for fins and foils. The conditions allowed nine foil races and four or five rounds on the fin.

Naturally, there were a particularly large number of talented youngsters from Turkey at the start, but participants also travelled from the Netherlands, Belgium and even the Seychelles. Benedikt Emser, Mario Boekstegers and Maximilian Räuchle made the journey to Alacati from Germany. Räuchle even managed to win a heat in the U21 foil class and finished in fifth place. Gaspar E.C. Schwarzlander was there from Austria. The Bonaire group was also particularly strong with seven starters.

In addition to Maximilian Räuchle, names such as Bobbi-Lynn De Jong, John Soukos, Sem Stroosma and Cyril Evrard have already made their debut in the pro divisions. The Greek John Soukos stood out in particular, he was almost unbeatable on fin and foil.

His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
