The PWA Youth World Cup in Miami has ended with an impressive German double victory. The 14-year-old Mika Henning dominated the competition in two categories and secured first place in both. The young German won all the races in the U17 foil slalom and U15 fin slalom categories. Benedikt Emser's performance also deserves special recognition. The 18-year-old really cleaned up in the U21 age group in both the fin slalom and foil slalom: he dominated the foil competitions with victories in all races and also secured the top spot on the podium in the fin slalom with seven first places.
This underlines the great talent of the two young German windsurfers, who were able to make an impressive impression on the international stage.

Excellent slalom conditions

A total of 12 fin slalom races and 14 foil slalom races were completed during the competition. The wind conditions developed extremely favourably over the course of the event. It is worth noting that the foil slalom races were also held in challenging wind conditions of up to 26 knots, which demanded maximum concentration and technical skill from the young athletes. The backdrop of the nature reserve provided an attractive setting for the competitions not only for the participants, but also for the spectators and accompanying organisers.

International participation, de Jong sisters win the women's event

The Miami Slalom Open 2025 attracted participants from different parts of the world. Athletes from Europe, South America and Asia travelled to compete against the best talents from North America. In addition to the outstanding successes of Mika Henning and Benedikt Emsers, there were exciting duels in all competition classes. The U21 women's class was dominated by the de Jong sisters from Bonaire: Bobbi-Lynn triumphed in the foil slalom, while Kit took victory in the fin slalom.
