Bonaire will be the venue for the second stop of the PWA Youth World Tour from 13 to 18 June. After the kick-off in Aruba at the beginning of June, the best young windsurfing talents will meet again to compete against each other in the Fin Slalom and Foil disciplines. With its ideal conditions, the venue Lac Bay in Sorobon offers the perfect stage for thrilling races.
Brendan Lorho and the de Jong sisters are favourites
Brendan Lorho is the clear favourite in the U21 Boys Fin Slalom category. He dominated the field at the first stop in Aruba and secured an impressive 13 victories in 16 eliminations. The competition promises to be much closer in foiling. Lorho and Kasper Nielsen fought an exciting duel on Aruba, which Nielsen won with a remarkable race to catch up. The younger age groups also promised excitement. In the U17 Boys Fin Slalom category, local favourite Tycho Smits will be hoping to use his home advantage to repeat his victory from Aruba. In the U15 Boys Fin Slalom, Arxon Gomperts will be looking to build on his strong performance from the start of the season and finish at the top of the podium once again.
The De Jong sisters are the measure of all things for the girls. At their home spot on Bonaire, Bobbi-Lynn and the twins Kit and Lone are likely to be even more motivated to repeat their successes from Aruba.
The event begins on 13 June with the registration of participants. The competitions will then start on 14 June and continue until 18 June. Unfortunately, there will be no live stream of the races in Bonaire. However, the organisers have announced that they will produce daily highlight videos to keep fans and interested parties up to date with the best scenes and results.
