"The wind forecast for this Friday promises absolute cream conditions; 16 to 25 knots of easterly wind in bright sunshine and 25 degrees," say the organisers Leon Delle and Oliver-Tom Schliemann happily. In order to take advantage of the top conditions, they have scheduled some fun races for the afternoon at short notice, before the Racer of the Sea VII starts there on Saturday.
The location is the Hemmelmark campsite in Eckernförde Bay. "At least four races are planned back-to-back from 17:00 to 19:00. Registration is at 16:00, skippers' meeting at 16:20," writes the team. All those who have already registered for the Racer of the Sea VII (or are still registering for it) can take part for free on Friday. Photographer Frithjof Blaasch aka Bulgenslag has been hired especially for the Fun Race on Friday to take great pictures as the evening sun sets.
