The 1001grad team, which is behind the popular Racer of the Sea and Winger of the Sea formats, can look back on a successful and eventful season: "It started with the international premiere at the Surf Opening on Lake Neusiedl in Austria. This was followed by a new record of 70 participants at the Surf Festival on Fehmarn and the highlight event in Kellenhusen, which thrilled people with live DJs, a food court, moderation and numerous exhibitors." At the end of the season, the Racer of the Sea once again returned to its place of origin, the Hemmelmark campsite on Eckernförde Bay.
The organisers Leon Delle and Oliver-Tom Schliemann's assessment is consistently positive: "The goals of the Racer of the Sea were fully achieved again this season," they write. "As the main meeting point for young and female regatta surfers and the perfect platform for beginners, numerous new windsurfers were inspired." A total of 102 windsurfers took part in the regattas, including 41 rookies who had never competed in an official ranking regatta before. "The high proportion of young people was particularly pleasing - with 34 U19 surfers, they made up more than a third of the field. Just as positive: 12 female surfers were at the start, which emphasises the presence of women in windsurfing," said Leon and Oli.
"Special thanks go to our partners this year. Thanks to our new pool sponsorship model, we were able to involve more brands and ensure that all participants were able to take home a prize as usual and that many events could take place," explain the two organisers. "Special mention should be made of the online surf shop WindLounge, which provided 1001 euros in prize money for each ROTS, and boot Düsseldorf, which sponsored the entry fee for all U19 starters. Edeka Kallsen also sponsored the BBQ at every event.
Other important partners such as Starboard, Severne, Duotone, North, Sabfoil, Salty Elements, HDI Dankers, Dunekacke & Willms and Love.My.Earth contributed significantly to the success of the season. "Without these partnerships, the Racer of the Sea would not exist. We are incredibly grateful for this - in the interests of windsurfing and the promotion of young talent," say the two initiators.
For 2025, the 1001grad team announced many new ideas "to make the Racer of the Sea even more attractive and to further sharpen its unique selling points in slalom windsurfing." The schedule will be announced soon!
