The legendary storm chaser contest is entering a new round. After a Red Bull Storm Chase in Ireland provided breathtaking action for the last time in 2019, a new stand-by phase is starting immediately and will run throughout the year. But one thing is already certain: it's off to Denmark!

10 force winds is the magic threshold above which the Red Bull Storm Chase can be started. When the trees are about to snap, the weather services are outdoing themselves with alerts and the waves are piling up metres high, then it's time for a proper session with the best storm surfers in the world. That is the credo of the Storm Chase. The last time they met was in Magheroarty, a legendary spot on the north-west coast of Ireland, in 2019. The pictures and videos of the then winner Jaeger Stone, as well as Philip Köster and Leon Jamaer, who stood on the podium with the Australian, fascinated the entire windsurfing world. Another starting period was planned for the winter of 2021/22, but the perfect storm didn't materialise. Now the legendary contest is set to return in 2025.

Denmark is the only spot option

In contrast to previous Storm Chases, where the whole world was considered for the contest in the perfect storm, the organisers have decided on at least one country for the new edition. They chose Denmark, which can not only provide suitable conditions with Cold Hawaii, but also to keep the logistics and safety precautions for the riders and crew within limits. The fact that an exclusive invitation is required for the Red Bull Storm Chase remains unchanged. Eight windsurfers will receive the coveted ticket to ride and athletes such as world champion Marcilio Browne, storm specialist Thomas Traversa and self-confessed strong wind fan Philip Köster will probably be there again. Nature will decide when the starting signal is given. Only when wind forces of 10 or more are forecast from the perfect direction are the traffic lights switched to green and the Storm Chase machinery is set in motion. The guys and girls from BSP (Big Sexy Pictures) in Hamburg are responsible for organising this mega event.

As the stand-by phase runs the whole year, it would have to be the devil's own doing if we didn't finally get to see another spectacular Red Bull Storm Chase this year. We'll keep you permanently up to date and are guaranteed to be there live at the start. You can also find all the information about the Red Bull Storm Chase here.
