Speed surfing: Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge 2025 starts on 1 April

The Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge Virtual Global Tour kicks off on 1 April 2025. As always, windsurfers can take part at any spot in the world; all that is required is an authorised GPS device. This means that the challenge is open to amateurs and professionals alike.

The tour will also be divided into three periods in 2025: The first period from 1 April to 31 May 2025 is called the Gran Canaria Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge. This is followed by a Summer edition from 1 July to 31 August and a third period from 1 October to 30 November. Each period is scored separately so that participants have multiple chances of achieving top positions.

In addition to the open category for men and women, there are competitions for different age groups. From juniors to the "Ultimate Masters" over the age of 71, all age groups are catered for. Foil enthusiasts also get their money's worth, although only the top 3 in each category are categorised.

Waterspeed app facilitates participation

A technical innovation promises even easier ways to take part in 2025. In addition to the tried-and-tested GPS devices, speed surfers can also use the Waterspeed app for Apple Watch and now also for Android devices for the first time. The app makes it possible to record sessions directly and send them to the GP3S evaluation platform.

Strict rules apply to ensure equal opportunities. All sessions must be uploaded on the same day or by 31 May 2025 at 23:59 CET at the latest. The organisers reserve the right to request GPS tracks for verification purposes.
