The Plage du Rouet in La Palme in the south of France is one of the best speed surfing spots in the world and home to the "Prince of Speed". Organiser Principe Baldini has now announced the dates for the 2024 speed event: From21 to 30 April the strip is open, the event is also the official world championship of the ISWC (International Speed Windsurfing Class).
The field is limited to 50 places, so anyone who wants to take part must register quickly. The ranking is divided into five categories:
The course will be 501 metres long and will be measured using video timing and GPS. The results can be followed live online, and there will be a large screen on the beach and a smaller one in the car park if conditions permit.
A total of 12,000 euros in prize money will be paid out, with the exception of the junior competitions. However, juniors only pay an entry fee of 150 euros instead of 250 euros for adults. If you want to take part, you must be a member of the ISWC and you can register for 25 euros until the beginning of March. Registration can be made by email to wstspeedtour@gmail.com where you will find all information about the event afterwards!
