We want to give you wanderlust! Our 2026 special issue is all about travelling. A magazine full of exotic spots, tips for upcoming travel destinations, vanlife tips and exciting reports!

"To travel is to live" is a quote from Hans Christian Andersen. He may not have been a surfer, but he pretty much captured the spirit of most of us. How was your last surf trip? Where are you going next? You can spend whole evenings talking about surfing with these questions alone. Travelling and surfing are almost inseparable, and not just because hardly anyone can get out on the water right on their doorstep. The thirst for adventure, the curiosity about unknown - or known - places creeps in somewhere between the first sheet start and the first gliding rush for many. Ever since the classic film "Endless Summer", the search for the best wave has been a standard motif for films, books, reports and much more.

The range of travel desires is as colourful and diverse as the entire surf scene. Whether it's an annual trip to a holiday home on the North Sea or Baltic Sea, a flight to a warm dream spot with a full buffet, bar and board hire, a chaotic road trip in a rickety van or a dignified camping holiday in a family camper van - there are all kinds of ways to get out on the water. The often-travelled, familiar spot with many memories can be just as appealing as the exotic, new spot full of unknown challenges. What is a fundamental way of life for some is the much-anticipated two-week annual holiday for others. But they all have one thing in common: the next trip is eagerly awaited for weeks and months!

In the surf travel special, we want to fuel your wanderlust, give you helpful tips and offer a look beyond the horizon. We show you spots that are difficult to reach, tell you about journeys that everyone initially turns away from and introduce you to people who spend their entire lives in a state of being on the move. To inspire you, we'll show you standing areas for intermediates and freeriders as well as spots where you can safely ride your first waves!
