Warm water, trade winds and world-class waves: In winter 2026, Stay Salty, in collaboration with world wave champion Thomas Traversa, is once again inviting participants to two exclusive windsurfing wave camps in Cabo Verde. There are only four places available per week.

When temperatures drop in Europe, one of the most exciting times of the year begins in Cape Verde for windsurfers who specialise in wave riding. Consistent trade winds, warm temperatures and powerful Atlantic swells have made the archipelago a dream destination for the international wave scene for years. It is precisely there that we’ll be back on the water at the end of 2026 – in a particularly small group.

This year, there will once again be two exclusive Wave Camp weeks based in Sal. Taking part: Thomas Traversa, one of the most versatile and experienced wave surfers in the world. If you want to improve your turns in the waves, gain more confidence or simply get out on the water at a legendary surf spot alongside a professional, here’s your chance.

Two weeks, with only four participants in each

The camp has been deliberately kept small: Only four people per week can take part. This leaves plenty of scope for personalised coaching, group sessions and detailed feedback. This personalised support is a major advantage, particularly in more challenging wave conditions – whether it’s about positioning in the line-up, timing, turns or choosing the right spot.

The dates for 2026:

  • 28 November to 5 December 2026
  • 5 to 12 December 2026

Both weeks of the camp include seven nights and are aimed at windsurfers who fancy some proper wave riding in warm water.

Out on the water every day – with coaching, photo and video analysis

The focus is on daily windsurfing sessions, depending on the wind, waves and conditions. As well as surfing together, the package also includes filming and photography. This allows participants to analyse their sessions later and see straight away what they can work on.

Video feedback is particularly valuable when you’re in the wave: a bottom turn or cutback often feels different on the water than it looks from the outside. Footage taken from the water or the beach allows you to specifically improve your technique, timing and positioning.

Cabo Verde: One of the classic destinations for wave sailing

Cabo Verde has been one of the absolute top destinations for wave kitesurfing for years: warm air, warm water, reliable trade winds and powerful waves create conditions that are hard to find in Europe in late autumn. For many wave pros, Sal is therefore an integral part of their winter plans.

The combination of coaching from Thomas Traversa, small groups and a top-class sailing area makes the camp particularly appealing to anyone who wants to make the most of their time on the water.

Included in the camp

The package includes:

  • A seven-night stay
  • Windsurfing every day, depending on the conditions
  • Coaching and joint sessions with Thomas Traversa
  • Local transport
  • Film and photography service, including analysis
  • Small group with a maximum of four people per week

There is a Early-bird discount of 500 euros.

Who is this camp suitable for?

The camp is aimed at windsurfers who already have some experience in wave riding or who want to take the next step in their wave riding. Anyone who can water-start confidently, is familiar with smaller equipment and is keen to experience real Atlantic conditions will find an intensive training environment here with plenty of personalised guidance.
