Starboard will be at many events throughout Germany in the coming months with test equipment. Highlights include the Surf Festival and Kiel Week.

The 2025 windsurfing season is in the starting blocks, with many test events scheduled in the coming weeks - Starboard also has a full programme. One of the highlights of the season is the surf festival on Fehmarn. This event has established itself as a meeting point for the windsurfing scene in recent years and combines competitions with a varied supporting programme. Fans can expect the festival to once again be a magnet for professionals, amateurs and spectators. The unique atmosphere on Fehmarn, combined with optimal wind conditions, makes this event a must for every windsurfer.

The VDWS Safety Tool offers a practical solution for all those who want to test or hire equipment. Some of this insurance can be taken out directly on site, although it is recommended that this is done in advance to ensure a stress-free start to the water sports day. The tool not only offers financial protection, but also the certainty of being able to try out new equipment without any worries.

iQFOiL and X-15 at the Kieler Woche

The IQ Foil class, which made its debut at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, continues its triumphant advance. Several high-calibre events will be held in this discipline in 2025. Particularly noteworthy are the competitions during Kiel Week, which promises exciting races for both seniors and juniors. The Kiel Fjord will be the venue for the IQ Foil Senior competitions from 20 to 25 June 2025, followed by the Youth & Junior races from 24 to 29 June. These events offer an ideal platform for athletes to compete at an international level and gain important experience.

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
