Sarah-Quita Offringa has shaped and advanced modern windsurfing like no other athlete. From her home in Aruba, SQ conquered the windsurfing world and is still the figurehead of women's windsurfing. With a natural style and competitive instinct that characterised her from the start, Offringa climbed through the rankings. She began to rewrite the record books in her late teens. Her successes went far beyond sporting titles. She even received a knighthood in Aruba!
The new video interview from the PWA series "Unpacking The Boardbags" was shot during the Fuerteventura World Cup in July 2025 and documents a season in which Offringa won her 28th PWA World Championship title - more than any other athlete in the history of the Professional Windsurfers Association. Above all, her versatility - from freestyle to slalom to wave riding - makes her an exceptional phenomenon.
With the title "Queen of Windsurfing" comes a burden that few athletes have to carry. Every event, every heat and every season adds new chapters to the growing legacy. Expectations rise with every title won. While other athletes are happy with individual victories, Offringa has to consistently perform at the highest level to live up to her own standard. The pressure that comes with this position accompanies her at every start. The interview provides an insight into the person behind the successes and shows how the athlete deals with the demands.
