Together with yoga instructors Sina and Robin, the Wangerooge surf school is organising a four-day retreat on the car-free North Sea island. The programme combines various water sports with yoga sessions and bodywork. Participants can choose between surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, wingsurfing and stand-up paddling. The surf school provides the equipment and trained instructors. Sina brings expertise from yoga, Thai yoga massage and acroyoga, Robin from physiotherapy and functional training. Both follow an approach that looks at the body as a whole and organises movement in a playful and mindful way. The retreat takes place over the Whitsun weekend and offers a mixture of active water sports and calmer sessions for body awareness.
The schedule is based on the surfing conditions and remains flexible in order to be able to react to wind, weather and the dynamics of the group. The programme includes water sports sessions with experienced guidance from the surf school, vinyasa yoga as well as calmer yoga sessions, acro yoga and therapeutic flying. The programme also includes Thai yoga massage as well as warm-ups and bodywork from the fields of yoga, physiotherapy and functional movement. The evenings offer space to share and integrate the experiences. An optional screen printing session can be added as a creative element. The organisers value a safe environment in which participants can try out new things and be brave. The combination of different forms of movement is intended to convey "a feeling of space and arriving at the sea".
Participants spend the night in two glamping tents directly behind the surf school. The tents have a solid wooden floor and several beds. Pillows and duvets are provided, but you must bring your own bed linen. The Blauhaus serves as a central meeting point with kitchen and dining room. In bad weather, it is also used as a room for yoga and workshops.
The price for the entire camp weekend is 380 euros per person. This includes three nights in a glamping tent, three breakfasts and three dinners as well as two water sports sessions including equipment. All yoga, acro and movement sessions are included in the price, as is the Thai yoga massage workshop. Not included in the price are travel to and from the centre, lunch, the tourist tax of around five euros per day and the optional screen printing session. Please enrol via the Wangerooge surf school. Due to the Whitsun weekend, many places have already been reserved for the ferry, so early booking of tickets is recommended. By the way: Another yoga retreat is planned for Wangerooge in autumn from 3 to 6 September!
