The winter season is drawing to a close and preparations for the upcoming windsurfing season in Denmark are already in full swing. Spring starts in just one month's time, which means that the 2026 windsurfing season is also within reach. The organisers of the Danish Open have now announced the dates for the 2026 events: The first stop will take place from 14 to 17 May with a freestyle competition in Løgstør on the Limfjord on. Shortly afterwards, waveriding is the order of the day, from 23 to 25 May, the scene meets in Klitmøllerwhile the traditional Week 42 event with both disciplines will be held from 15 to 18 October. Registration for all events is already open and interested parties can register via the official website - traditionally, many windsurfers from northern Germany also take part in the Danish Open.
In 2026, the Danish Open will once again offer various competition classes tailored to different age groups and skill levels. The A class is the centrepiece of the event, where sailors compete for the official Danish championship of the Danish Sailing Federation. This class is open to all participants. For up-and-coming talent under the age of 21, there is the Junior class, which is held separately for boys and girls. This is where the Danish Sailing Federation's U21 youth champions are crowned - in an atmosphere characterised by team spirit and unforgettable moments on the water. Of course, there is also a separate classification for the ladies, while the B class is aimed at all those who are primarily looking for fun on the water and a relaxed competition.
The Danish Open Windsurf Wave Championship is not only important on a national level, but is also recognised internationally. The events are part of the PWA/WWT Tour, and the points scored are included in both the world ranking list and the European ranking list. As official events of the Danish Sailing Association, the Danish Championship and the U21 Youth Championship are awarded here.
