Voting for Schleswig-Holstein's Sportswoman of the Year is currently underway on the NDR website:
On the page you will first see an empty list, further down you will see the nominees, which you can move up the list and organise using the arrow on the right-hand side. Not all positions have to be filled. In order for the vote to be valid, a captcha must be entered correctly at the bottom.
Multiple votes are possible, the voting is not representative. "The overall result of the athletes' election is made up of the Internet voting and the votes of the chairmen and presidents of the state sports associations of the state sports association and the members of the Association of Schleswig-Holstein Sports Journalists," according to the NDR website.
The vote will run until 13 December 2024 and the winners will be announced on 18 December.
The nominees were selected by a jury from the state sports association together with sports journalists and representatives from the Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein Olympic Training Centre. In addition to Lina, Tanja Scholz (para-swimming), Elisa Mevius (basketball), Adia Budde (athletics) and Julia Bröcker (triathlon) have also been nominated.
Lina Erpenstein actually wanted to approach the 2024 season as a transition year because she was also completing her practical year as part of her medical studies. Winning the World Cup in Chile in the spring was a huge success for the Kiel native, followed by a second victory in Tenerife. Lina therefore came to the World Cup on Sylt as the World Cup leader and was the centre of attention for the numerous spectators. Even though she wasn't entirely satisfied with her performance there and had to give way to windsurfing queen Sarah-Quita Offringa at the end of the season to win the World Championship title, the year was a huge success: "From the outside it might look like I've lost the title, but with everything that's going on at the moment, I'm more than proud of this achievement. This year was supposed to be my 'quiet time', but it turned out to be my most successful year ever on the tour. It's been an exciting journey and I'm certainly a few steps closer to my dream this year," she wrote on Instagram.
