Windsurf Classics: "The new style" - the funboard video from surf
With this video surf heralded the funboard revolution! At the same time, "The New Style" is also a windsurfing comedy in the style of the eighties!

When the funboard wave hit the windsurfing world in the 80s, it triggered a new boom. At the time, surf magazine produced an elaborate clip called "Funboard Windsurfing - The New Style" with Pete Cabrinha and Kutte Priessner, which was somewhere between slapstick and serious riding technique video. In 1984, when VHS recorders were by no means a matter of course, the video cost a whopping 148.00 marks!

Kutte Prießner plays a surfing nostalgic with a giant board and wooden boom, which he transports in a rickety duck. Shooting star Pete Cabrinha is completely different. He arrives in a chic Quattro from sponsor Audi and naturally gets the blonde beauty in the passenger seat. Later, the Audi engages in a speed duel with a windsurfer at an incredible 50 km/h.

Kutte gets to be taught the beach start by Pete, and the blonde in the passenger seat turns out to be surf instructor Doris Straub, who shows that "funboarding is not the domain of men, girls and women can also keep up here", as surf magazine emphasised at the time!

A great reminder for anyone who lived through the early eighties on the board - an entertaining look into history for those who came along later!
