Since Thursday, the California Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording has been hosting the IFCA Slalom Foil World Championship will take place. For the final day on Sunday, the current forecasts are expecting a storm with wind speeds of 27 to 39 knots from the south-west. That would definitely be too much wind for the foiling discipline. With the expected waves, it will be difficult even for the boats to get out.
At the same time, however, this promises good conditions for a wave contest, which is why the organisers have issued a "wave warning" for Sunday today. This is not yet the official "go", but is intended to give all wavers the opportunity to prepare for a contest on Sunday. The final wave alert will then be issued at least 24 hours before the start. So by Saturday morning at the latest, it will be clear whether the waver will be invited to the California Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording.
This time, "invite" can be taken literally. Soöruz Wetsuits is sponsoring this Wave Alarm, so that all waver can take part in the contest free of charge. In addition, a Soöruz wetsuit will be raffled off among all waver participants at the California Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording.
Waveriding runs as a standby event in the German Windsurf Cup. Instead of forcing the pure waver to register for all contests and then possibly wait for days or even for nothing for suitable conditions, wave is only scheduled at short notice in suitable conditions. Judges and the organisation are on site at the slalom events anyway, the riders then receive the wave alarm 24 hours in advance and can still arrive on time.
