The California Windsurf Cup in St. Peter-Ording ended after four days with a premiere: Fabian Wolf and Vincent Langer shared the overall victory with equal points. Wolf won the foiling discipline, while Langer triumphed in the fin slalom. They both scored 3.0 points in the overall standings and are joint top of the rankings.
The competition began on Thursday with optimal conditions of five to six force winds for the fin slalom. Vincent Langer showed his class with five heat wins in six races. As the worst result could be cancelled, Langer achieved a perfect score of 0.0. Fabian Wolf proved his versatility with six second places and 8.0 points. Leo Richter secured third place in this discipline with one race win and three third places.
After two windless days, the wind returned on Sunday and made two complete foiling eliminations possible. Fabian Wolf showed his strength here and won both heats. Vincent Langer followed in second place. Dutch World Cup pro Bob van de Burgt completed the podium with two third places.
In the overall standings, there was a neck-and-neck race between Wolf and Langer. Both athletes won one discipline and came second in the other, resulting in a tie of 3.0 points. As the tie could not be broken, the two athletes shared victory in the California Windsurf Cup St. Peter-Ording 2025, with Keno Recke coming in third overall, beating Jonne Heimann in a tie-breaker.
The event also provided a platform for up-and-coming talent. Keno Recke won the Youth U21 classification ahead of Jesse Richter and Thies Johnson. Jesper-Mo Thomsen triumphed in the Youth U19 category. The LVM Youngster Trophy, endowed with a total of 500 euros in prize money, went to Keno Recke as the best young rider. Oliver Schott came out on top in the Grandmaster Over 50 category.
The next stop of the German Windsurf Cup will be on Sylt from 29 July to 3 August, where the GWA Championship will also take place as part of the DWC. A return of the California Windsurf Cup to St. Peter-Ording is already planned for next year.
