A stand at boot, World Cup Tenerife, Aloha Classic, a fresh look and brand new sails: Bruch Boards is going full throttle. Dany Bruch explained the new products to us at the trade fair and told us about his plans!

Bruch Boards is one of the few brands represented at boot Düsseldorf with windsurfing equipment - in a prime location directly in front of the large action pool. The fact that Dany Bruch has now added sails to its portfolio was one of the big surprises at the trade fair. Together with the Hotel Playa Surf and the municipality of Granadilla, Dany presents Tenerife as a windsurfing destination with attractive options. We spoke to him about his new start, his boards and sails and his plans for the future!

Dany, many of your boards look new, at least in terms of decor!

Exactly, we refreshed our design, as we had been travelling with the same design for six years. We have adjusted the litre figures a little so that everything fits 100%. We've also optimised the rocker lines, so we've made small updates to the shapes. But as I said, the design is mainly new, so it can't hurt to have something a bit fresh.

The model range has remained the same so far?

We got a new board, the Pure, a pure quad with a range from 74 litres to 120 litres. The concept of the board comes from the Happy, because the Happy was very popular. However, the Pure is a bit more conventional, not as short and wide, but has the same bottom shape and a very similar rocker curve. This is a very, very playful board, a real top contender for quad lovers!

Bruch Boards now also makes sails

But the surprise here at boot is that you are now also making sails!

Exactly, we had been thinking about doing something in the direction of sailing for a while. It was only about a month ago that we decided to go ahead with it! For now, we only have one line of wave sails, which we developed in co-operation with Flight Sails, and we also produce them in the Ezzy factory, using top materials and top quality. In terms of characteristics, the sail is extremely neutral, you can completely forget that you have anything in your hands. You can focus one hundred per cent on waves and wind, which is very user-friendly. You can trim it flat for strong winds or very bulbous for light winds, all in all the sails have super easy handling and are super easy to ride.

And you probably drive them yourself?

Exactly, I drive them myself.

What exactly does the co-operation with Flight Sails look like?

We played with their prototypes a bit and then customised a few things the way I like it. These are small changes, but on the whole it's the same sail that Flight Sails has. There will be further development in the future, it was all very spontaneous, but it is a developed sail with their technology!

And hardware also comes from you?

We're still thinking about that, so masts in any case. We'll see if we can agree a co-operation with another company for booms, extensions and so on, that will be decided in the next few weeks.

Are you also planning other sailing lines, for example in the freeride area?

We want to start with the wave line now, and then we'll decide everything else in the next few weeks!

You also have a few wingfoil boards, are they also new?

I started with a high-performance foil board. It works extremely well for those who can do it. It's a bit difficult for beginners, but once you're flying, it's absolutely awesome. That's why we then brought out another line, a bit longer, a bit wider, a bit thinner. It's very easy to progress quickly. Not just a beginner board, more of an intermediate.

And if I want to buy one of your things, I can still do that directly via your website in direct sales?

Exactly, we have just placed a large order of 200 boards. In the future, we want to set up warehouses so that delivery takes a maximum of one week if it comes from Tenerife, or just two to three days if it comes from our logistics centre in Barcelona. So not just as a pre-order as before.

Close cooperation and support from Hotel Playa Surf

You work closely with the Hotel Playa Surf, including on the World Cup in Tenerife and the sponsorship of the Aloha Classic.

The hotel was bought three years ago by a passionate windsurfer who loves the location, loves El Merano, loves windsurfing, which I think is very important. He has now also joined Bruch Boards and is helping us to make the brand better known. Among other things, he is the main sponsor of the World Cup in Tenerife. I also arranged for him to sponsor the Aloha Classic. We try to present a complete package consisting of location, Bruch Boards, hotels, everything hand in hand.

We no longer have our break boards in Cabezo, but in the wind centre, right next to the Hotel Playa Surf. The hire shop there is now also equipped with our boards and sails. I think that customer feedback also helps us to develop further. We also have really exciting deals: if you're interested in a Bruch board, you can test it for three days with us in Tenerife, and if you buy the board at the end and take it with you, you get the three days' accommodation for free. There are also good all-inclusive packages with hotel and equipment hire. We just want to push the brand a bit more in general, via the hotels, clinics, the World Cup in Tenerife and so on.

This means you can concentrate on development and then have support for the business in the background.

Exactly, I've done everything more or less on my own over the last few years. Development was a bit neglected because it was a bit much. All the logistics, shipping and so on are now being taken over by another team. And I can concentrate more on sail and board development and bring out new shapes. I also have lots of ideas for other things. I think that makes more sense and will also be more fun in the future.

World Cup Tenerife as a Grand Slam and other event plans

Tenerife is one of the best downwind SUP foil locations in the world!"

Can you already give us a preview of the World Cup Tenerife? Rumour has it that it will be a complete five-star Grand Slam with slalom

Exactly, that's right. The date is 1 to 10 August, and we have already received confirmation of various budgets from the municipality, the tourism association and so on. They are fully behind the event. And it looks very good that we will definitely be organising a Grand Slam, with Foil Slalom and Wave. Slalom X wouldn't be bad either, but for this first year we want to start with Foil Slalom to guarantee a result.

Can you give us a small preview of what else you have planned for 2025?

We still have a few events on the cards. We'd like to organise a festival here in Tenerife for testing, but that probably won't happen until 2026. Maybe we'll do a little teaser for such an event during the World Cup, possibly in combination with a national slalom contest and a downwind foil event. Tenerife's coast with the Tradewinds is one of the best downwind SUP foil locations in the world, along with Hawaii. Here you can ride along the whole coast, 60 kilometres downwind. We also want to showcase this with an event, possibly on the new Surf Foil Tour. So we are pushing in all directions!

The mood in the industry is not exactly good in many places, but you are taking off, organising the World Cup and exhibiting here at boot. Are your partners making this possible?

We always had a lot planned for the brand, but it was a bit too much for me alone. Now everything is better organised and I can concentrate more on the events. That helps the brand, that helps the location. In any case, the partner plays a big role in enabling us to push this. But on the whole, it's also a question of time. Everything makes a bit more sense now.

Thank you very much and good luck!
