Windsurfing on TV: RTL programme about the Dunkerbeck family - "This is how the greatest windsurfing legend of all time lives"

The name Bjørn Dunkerbeck is still a spectator magnet, no matter where the champion appears. The TV channel RTL has now filmed a long programme about the legend around the World Cup in Pozo. Windsurfing on television with lots of great scenes from Bjørn's cinema film "Born To Windsurf" and detailed interviews!

Bjørn gives some exciting insights: for Daniel and Liam, he is "the coach on the beach and the father at home", he tells the RTL reporter. With 12-year-old Daniel, the two are still mixed, says Bjørn, "but with Liam you have to be tougher, otherwise he won't listen!" He passes on all his tips to his sons, but in addition to talent, his own will is also crucial.

Bjørn himself is still on the water almost every day when he doesn't have his hands full as the organiser of the World Cup. "Windsurfing keeps you young," says the 55-year-old, who now relies on somewhat tamer conditions instead of hardcore pozo: "45 knots and three metre waves are not the best thing for my hips," says Dunki. But after his second operation, he is much fitter than he was three or four years ago.

In addition to the 100 km/h target on the speedstrip, his main goal is to make windsurfing bigger again. "It's a sport for the whole family and for life," he says, and encourages people to give it a try: "Windsurfing is much easier to learn today than it was in the 90s!"
