On the final day, the pros at the World Cup Pacasmayo were once again treated to very light winds but long, head-high set waves. Maria Andrés (Spain) mastered the smooth surf-style conditions with ease, chose great sets and combined several turns and floaters to take the event win with a total score of 15.20 points. The win moves Andrés up to 5th place in the world rankings and puts him within striking distance of the podium places.
"I keep coming back here because every time I ride a good wave here, I get this great feeling. I don't get that feeling anywhere else. I also really like the atmosphere at the competitions, we all hang out together a lot, so it feels more like a family atmosphere"said Andrés afterwards. France's Sarah Hauser, who was seeded number one in the women's event, came second, meaning that she also remains within striking distance in the World Championship rankings.
The men's final was extremely close, with all riders achieving double-digit scores with their two wave scores. Antoine Martin from Guadeloupe started strongly with the highest score of the entire event - an air taka followed by several aerials, floaters and cutbacks earned him 9.10 points. Camille Juban countered with a high, twisted aerial and one-handed cutbacks - this ride was worth 8.4 points to the judges. Martin gambled on the second wave - he chased 500 metres downwind, always on the lookout for the section for a big move - but it never came. He then had to bob up and down, which cost him a lot of time and probably the win, as Juban continued to collect waves and points. In the end, a mediocre ride would have been enough for Martin to win, but Juban's consistency prevailed by a wafer-thin margin of just 0.03 points. With these results, Martin moves up to tenth place in the world rankings, while Juban climbs to seventh place and is now within striking distance of the world championship podium.
I really enjoy Pacasmayo because the wave is not so heavy and it feels like a holiday. It's a smooth, easy, long ride (Camille Juban)

Italy's number one, Federico Morisio, was also strong once again. His repertoire included aerials, aggressive snaps and floaters, which he combined beautifully on several long waves. Morisio finished the heat in third place with a strong total score of 14.63, ahead of Maui local Morgan Noireaux.
