After a leisurely start to the day, day 6 of the Gran Canaria Gloria Windsurf World Cup 2025 really got going at around 11am when the next generation took to the water again. Although the wind was gusty at times and the good set waves rolled in quite erratically, the youngsters made the most of the conditions to put on an entertaining show.
If there was a family ranking, the Gobisch family would certainly be way out in front. After Trine Gobisch had already won the girls' U15 competitionbrothers Anton and Peter followed suit yesterday. Anton Gobisch, just 12 years old, rotated some front loops and is currently in fourth place in the U15 category. His brother Peter was even more successful in the U18s: with some solid front and back loops and almost flawless wave rides, the young man from Kiel took victory in the single elimination of the U18 classification ahead of Denmark's Björn Olesen and Javier Escribano from Spain.
But another brother and sister are also currently using the World Cup Pozo to draw attention to themselves - Emma and Frida Miron looped into third and fourth place in the U18 classification. The young Belgian Sol Degrieck (Severne / Severne Sails) was in a class of her own in this category, winning all three finals held today. Degrieck had already impressed in the women's main field - where she is in third place after the first round.
In the afternoon, the masters took part in the action for the first time, where the quarter-finals were held. Of course, a Gobisch representative could not be missing here either - father Lars reeled off his programme solidly and is in the semi-finals. The omens for the semi-finals are very good again this Friday - the forecast promises strong winds and plenty of waves. The women's double elimination could also be completed today.
