No wind, but plenty of sunshine: the second day of the World Cup was an opportunity to take a breather and relax. The action continues on the water tomorrow.

As expected, the wind took a break after the brilliant start to the Citroën Windsurf World Cup Sylt on Sunday. Bright sunshine over Brandenburger Strand and the opportunity to enjoy the yesterday's waveriding again to leave. Only a passing rain cloud in the afternoon provided a brief breeze, but as soon as the race committee had laid out the buoys for a possible slalom start, the wind died down again.

The day was already focussed on the following days: according to the forecast, the wind should shift to an easterly direction and blow at 20 to 30 knots. The chances are therefore good for slalom races, and it may also be possible to attempt to start the freestyle. With a bit of luck, the wind will then shift to the south towards the weekend, so that there is also a chance of double elimination in wave riding.

The numerous spectators on the promenade took advantage of the sunny day and strolled along the stands of the exhibitors and sponsors. Youngsters Maria Behrens, Nick Spangenberg Henri Kolberg and Anton Richter answered questions from children on the stage and tested the snacks from sponsor Ehrmann. Balz Müller took to the water in the afternoon with a pump foil board and his mini kite - you'll find out more about this in the next few days!

Tobi is our digital man, he looks after the surf website and social media channels and gets on everyone's nerves every morning by asking for more pictures and videos. His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
