Finally, there was another foil slalom: Enrico Marotti won the men's event, while Marion Mortefon and Justine Lemeteyer each won the women's event. The event victories in the slalom went to Johan Soe and Justine Lemeteyer, while Lennart Neubauer is the new freestyle world champion.

On the last day of the Citroen Windsurf World Cup Sylt, the large LED screen was better than ever. With a light wind from the south-east, the race course was far out in front of Rantum and you could hardly see anything from the beach. On the big screen, numerous spectators watched as the seventh elimination in the men's event was completed.

Pierre Mortefon can get the World Cup double

The second stringer came into play with heat number seven. Although Johan Soe won his heats, he was unable to get past Enrico Marotti and Pierre Mortefon in a thrilling three-way battle in the A final. However, the event victory was out of reach for the Dane anyway, who won the World Cup Sylt by a large margin ahead of Pierre Mortefon. The Frenchman, on the other hand, moves to the top of the World Cup rankings thanks to his second place and therefore has the best chance of winning the racing double of the Slalom X and Foil World Championships in Japan!

Fabi Wolf took part in the grand final on Sylt for the first time and finished in fifth place: "I wanted to make it to the A final again, I managed that and I'm very happy about it!" he said afterwards. Wolf is now fourteenth in the event classification. Nico Prien was eliminated in the preliminary round, but is the best German with tenth place. Michele Becker should be anything but satisfied with 20th place, while Lars Poggemann came 34th.

World Championship duel between Lemeteyer and Mortefon

Can anyone beat Justine Lemeteyer? That was the big question for the women, who had two more runs today. The strong Frenchwoman left nothing to chance in the first heat and won by a large margin after a strong first jibe. In the final heat of the event, however, Marion Mortefon made her move once again and took her second victory. "I made a few small mistakes in the first heat and Justine just doesn't make mistakes, but I'm happy to have won the last heat," said the Frenchwoman. With two wins from Fuerte and Sylt, Lmeteyer goes into the World Championship final in Japan as the leader, but Mortefon still has every chance with two second places.

When it became clear that, as expected, it would not be enough for freestyle, Lennart Neubauer was able to celebrate his first world championship title. Even if he would have liked to have ridden here on Sylt, it was certainly well deserved. Nothing changed in the wave results either, with Marc Paré and Sarah-Quita Offringa winning!
