The Austrian Windsurfing Championships are undergoing a fundamental reorganisation. From 2026, the ÖM Slalom will no longer be held as a single event in both the fin and foil disciplines, but as a tour with four stops, according to information from Windsurfing Austria (WSA). This change in format is intended to make the championship fairer and more attractive after the fin regattas on Lake Neusiedl in particular have had to contend with a sharp decline in the number of participants in recent years. The switch to the tour format also makes the championship less dependent on the wind conditions on a specific date - a problem that often occurred in the past when there was only sufficient wind on one day of four-day events.
In future, the Austrian champions will be determined by summarising the results of all four tour stops. Different tour schedules have been put together for the two disciplines. The ÖM Fin Slalom consists of the WSA Slalom Cup 1 in Torbole, the Seeopening in Neusiedl, the WSA Slalom Cup 2 again in Torbole and the WSA Slalom Cup in Weiden. The Foil Slalom Tour, on the other hand, consists of the WSA Slalom Cup 1 in Torbole, the Windsurfing Weekend on Lake Wallersee, the WSA Slalom Cup 2 in Torbole and the Christoph Prem Trophy on Lake Achensee. This division takes into account the different requirements of the two disciplines at the venues and their specific conditions. The final regatta, including the award ceremony for both disciplines, will take place in Austria. The exact dates can be found at windsurfingaustria.at/events/
