Yentel Caers: 3 things you'd like to steal from other surfers?Photo: pwaworldtour.com/Carter
Yentel Caers from Belgium is one of the best freestylers in the world and still has some wishes.
Yentel Caers is already a doubles world champion himself, but still looks enviously at the skills of his opponents from time to time. In our series, he tells us what he would like to adopt for himself!

Yentel, if you could steal three skills, things or traits from other riders, what would they be?

Balz Müller's skills on the foil freestyle board! He has pushed foil freestyle to an incredible level and continues to do so. I practise it, but not as much as Balz. And I would love it so much to be at the same foil level as Balz. In light wind Balz can show crazy moves, but this level is far away from mine.

Can you imagine reaching Balz's level one day?

As I said, I don't practise it that much, but when I do, Balz is already on a completely different level. He is the pioneer of foil freestyle! Balz says he dreams at night about the new tricks he wants to do the next day. Yes, exactly. And if he can't do this new trick, he dreams up the next one!

Away from Balz's dreams and towards the second "steal" ...

Gollito has the craziness to try things on the water that are so out of the box! For me, Gollito is a freestyle legend and he's a nine-time freestyle world champion, which is incredible. I also have my name in the Freestyle World Cup, but Gollito is a completely different freestyle legend than I am.

And your third "steal"?

Ricardo Campello knows no boundaries on the water and has brought freestyle to the wave. He does such crazy things that it sometimes looks as if he no longer has it under control - "all or nothing", so to speak. His push forwards and double forwards are legendary for me. I push freestyle in the same way, but Ricardo has brought freestyle so much into wave riding, transferring it into the other discipline. Ricardo is a legend in our sport.
