The Junior World Cup in Alacati kicked off with the U17 and U21 foil races after a day of calm. The Dane Kasper Nielsen rode with the greatest consistency in the seven U21 eliminations and won ahead of Mathieu Assorin. Although the Frenchman pulled off a hat-trick at the start, he was unable to build on this in the following days. Directly behind him, Benedikt Emser finished in third place ahead of Brendan Lorho, who even managed three second places. Valentin Christ finished in 16th place.
Tycho Smits from Bonaire was the measure of all things in the U17 boys' event, winning all seven races. Elif Ercan and Zeynep Hacudi won the girls' event ahead of Bobbi-Lynn de Jong.
It was only on the penultimate day that the fin fields took to the water. After five heats in the U21 category, Thijs Hanemaaijer won ahead of Brendan Lorho and Mert Kacan, while Damla Kurtdemir was ahead of Bobbi-Lynn de Jong and Selin Aktas in the women's category. The other winners were Derim Gökmeral (U15) and Beren Ulkumen (U13). In the boys' competition, Nicolai Storm (U17), Sarp Mutluel (U15) and Gaspar E.C. Schwarzlander (U13) were the fin winners in their age group.
The Junior World Cup in Miami is still on the calendar from 23 to 29 October!
