The PWA Youth & Junior Slalom World Tour reaches its second stop out of a total of five events. From 25 to 28 June, Bonaire will welcome the world’s best young windsurfing talents. The Bonaire Youth Watersport Development Foundation is organising the competition, which brings together participants from Europe, North and South America, and the Caribbean. The age groups cover athletes aged 13 to under 21. Two disciplines are on the programme: Slalom Fin and Slalom Foil. All races will be broadcast live on the PWA YouTube channel. The combination of consistent wind and the warm, turquoise water creates conditions that are internationally regarded as the benchmark for junior competitions: “It is the perfect stage for the next generation of windsurfing athletes to compete at the highest level,” explains the Bonaire Youth Watersport Development Foundation.

An expanded festival programme alongside the competitions

The event goes beyond mere competitive racing. In collaboration with Bonaire’s Beach Festival “Pow Wow di Awa”, a multi-day event is taking shape. Alongside the PWA races, there will be sailing competitions, flatwater races for younger participants, a triathlon, swimming competitions and freestyle competitions. The programme is aimed at different age groups and skill levels. The event is developing into a meeting place for the Caribbean water sports community. Spectators can watch the action right on the beach or follow it via livestream. The organisers are focusing on a mix of sporting competition and a cultural supporting programme.
