The RRD board from this group offers wave beginners maximum safety and stability. Choppy conditions no longer scare you, it's easier to position yourself correctly in front of the wave and the long board with the large fins runs straight when paddling out. With a lot of upturn at the front, it doesn't tip in even if the stance position was accidentally chosen a little too far forward before the take-off. The planing behaviour on the wave is more controllable than lively, the large width tames the turning characteristics somewhat and the acceleration is also quite good. Nevertheless, wave beginners in particular will quickly and safely experience their first successes on the wave with a paddle. For windsurfing and wing foiling, a double US box for the all-round foil used (RRD KSH Alu) is mounted quite far forward, but both types of play are celebrated here with tip-toe feeling and without loops.
If there is enough wind, the board offers the best qualities for beginners: simply stand up, hold the wing and then slowly accelerate until the board takes off. Thanks to the free choice of stance position, the board can be trimmed out well on the one hand, but on the other hand there is a lack of orientation as to where you should place your feet. With the foil in the front of the box and the wing in your hand, you stand nicely centred above the handle. The flight feeling is more like that of a wide-body aircraft than a sports plane. Due to the long length, the stabilisation around the transverse axis requires a little more feeling than you might expect, otherwise it is quite stable in the air. As a foil windsurf board, the RRD is also easy to cruise, but loops would be very helpful for manoeuvres such as jibes. But if you simply want to fly relaxed across the lake in light winds, the RRD is a good choice. The largely rounded foil is less frightening than some sharp filleting wings.
surf conclusion: The Wassup is well-behaved in all disciplines, which is due to its generous dimensions. This provides safety and makes it easier to get started in all three sports, but also limits the board for dedicated surfers.
