Test of crossover boards for waving, SUPing and windfoiling: The Slingshot Wizard V3 in the individual evaluation

The short slingshot board in this group is compact and manoeuvrable both with the sail and the wing. And if you focus primarily on windsurf foiling, this assessment remains generally valid. In the test, with the Infinity 76 front wing and 48 rear wing, the overall package looked very sporty, fast and extremely buoyant. The board could be lifted onto the foil even in very light winds and stayed up by far the longest in the jibe. As the wind increases, the lift needs to be controlled with more planing, the board can be edged very well and then runs at maximum height. However, you should already have some foiling experience, even if the long mast gives you some time to correct mistakes. Nevertheless, the board reacts a little more sensitively in comparison, which should certainly not be a disadvantage for budding foil freestylers. Turning on the thin nose and without space in front of the mast track should be left to award-winning high-wire artists, but with abrupt nose dives the side "bevels" and the strong upturn absorb a lot of braking energy, the board touches down just as gently and takes off just as well as the thick-nosed Starboard Foil X Wing.

For "wing mode", the foil can only be pushed slightly forwards, which also enables a slightly forward standing position. The straps are designed accordingly, so it fits. With the generous cut-outs, the board can be pumped properly from the legs (with the shorter fuselage and smaller rear wing), the flight feeling on the long mast is sporty and fast and the board looks quite small. The stance position further back is a little unusual when wing foiling, but the strap and foil position fit together and so the wing suitability is actually good. With compact dimensions and "only" 114 litres of volume, wing foiling is easy to learn without the board becoming too big after just three days.

surf conclusion: A very sporty board, ideal for windsurf foiling, also suitable for wing foiling, but with a standing position further back than is usual on "real" wingboards.

Very sporty with sail and wing

Standing position with wing slightly further back
