Freemoveboards 105 2005

Langebaan, South Africa in November 2004: The surf test team chases the latest 2005 freemove boards in the 105-litre class through choppy water and over the smoothly ironed speed track. For many surfers, these are the all-rounders, the descendants of the legendary F2 Sunset Slalom and the original Mistral Screamer. With sail sizes ranging from 7.0 to 5.5 square metres, these boards cover the most common wind range on lakes and coasts. We determine the performance data of the individual boards in head-to-head comparisons. Manoeuvring characteristics are tested in identical conditions by the six-person test team. The suitability for everyday use is particularly important: How easy is it to control the board in choppy conditions? How radical, but also how easy is it to jibe?

Freemove - the freedom to do whatever you want with a board - heat, jibe, freestyle or carve waves. For boards over 100 litres, we focus on classic freeride manoeuvres and basic freestyle. Because for radical new schoolers, only a "real", thoroughbred freestyle board comes into question. However, in this group you will also find boards that will take you from your first attempts at power jibes to air jibes.
