The RRD Firestorm really unleashes its lively freerace temperament when the going gets tough. These are the best prerequisites for travelling very fast even with little effort. With a rather flat planing position and plenty of damping, choppy waves are pleasantly absorbed and the board provides maximum safety. It assumes the optimum planing position - slightly tilted on the leeward edge - almost automatically and keeps it so stable in all conditions, as if it were being held in the centre of the track by a driving assistance system.
The jibes can be manoeuvred into choppy water just as precisely. Edged on the rail, the board swallows smaller waves and allows tight radii with little foot pressure, without appearing nervous. But even wide power jibes are fluid, with plenty of speed and good control. Only for carved race jibes with the sail lowered will you find candidates that are a little more stable on the edge. When foiling, the board stays up relatively well - even in foil jibes - it appears quite agile around the longitudinal axis due to the narrow loop spacing at the back and is therefore suitable for more experienced foil surfers.
A freerace board that is particularly easy to surf and neck and does not require a particularly high level of riding ability.
