With the best foil suitability, the board fulfils the hybrid claim particularly well - if foil suitability seems very important. But even with a fin, the board has nothing to hide. The short 40 mm fin is certainly designed for good planing rather than maximum light wind performance, which fits in well with the fin/foil mix concept. The board also performs perfectly when planing, even if it is not quite as explosive as the super gliders, but glides lively with a comfortable standing position - despite the foil-optimised, wide tail.
The outer straps are not placed too far towards the water's edge and make it relatively easy to slip in for this class of board. This makes the lively board easy to control: It feels fast and direct and achieves good performance on the fin, even if not quite one hundred per cent. However, the compromise seems very balanced and the foil optimisation does not affect the jibe characteristics either. With a little more foot pressure required, the Fifty glides well through the turn, both when turned over the tail in the classic manner and when carved over the entire rail.
Successful shape, especially for regular foil mounting.
