The Duotone Blitz doesn’t knock you for six – it lifts your spirits. The new shape combines freerace performance with exceptional neck characteristics.

The Duotone Blitz is set to launch in 2026 and, together with the Duotone Eagle the freeride-freerace segment. The Eagle is primarily designed to help beginners enjoy effortless gliding, whilst the Blitz is aimed at more experienced freeriders who now want to ride a notch faster. For high-end buyers, the Blitz is available to pre-order in addition to this SLS version, and in a semi-custom build from D/Lab that is 300 grams lighter, for 2,899 euros. The more affordable custom CNC version costs 1,899 euros and is expected to weigh 8.5 kilos in the 136-litre size.

At 136 litres, the Blitz boasts a generous volume compared to others in its class. However, this is in line with Duotone’s ‘Volume Yet Control Concept’, which is designed to provide up to ten litres more volume than usual for the same range of use. This is complemented by the comparatively long but slightly curved 44 fin. The very comfortable footstraps can be adjusted in two rows, either quite far inwards for comfortable freeriding or moderately far outwards for freerace. The shape is based on a continuous, gentle V-shape with equally gentle double concaves in the front section. The deck is lowered by around 15 millimetres in the mast track area and is slightly domed and rounded in the standing area, with an ergonomically comfortable radius beneath the footstraps in both possible configurations. The outer position allows for a good performance trim, but is comparatively moderate and not as extremely ‘racy’ as on some other boards.

Good sailing performance and strong gybes

With plenty of volume, ample length and plenty of space on deck, getting the Blitz up to speed is particularly easy. Even without pumping, the board glides off with very little resistance and accelerates quickly. You’ll also find the outer footstraps quickly; the standing position is very comfortable – not 100 per cent race-oriented, but very comfortable nonetheless. Only those in the test group who are actually looking for a slalom board in disguise will miss the extreme edge-to-rail feel here. Even in light winds, the board hangs lightly, loosely and freely underfoot – yet remains comfortable thanks to its slight damping. Visually, it looks slightly larger than the others in the group, but in terms of performance it keeps up well with the best even in strong winds, delivering a very balanced ride with no weaknesses. It also instils a great sense of security, as it glides stably around both axes and delivers its power very willingly. Even when powered up well, it maintains a medium-high glide position and never tends to wheelie.

When tacking, the Blitz offers a large ‘turning zone’ for manoeuvring round the mast and is particularly stable against capsizing in the water. However, its true manoeuvring strength lies in power jibes with medium and wide radii. This is where the red-and-blue speedster fully exploits its gliding potential and, thanks to its wide stern, maintains speed for a very long time even with minor errors in weight distribution – self-stable on the rail and unperturbed and unchecked by choppy waves. In classic power jibes as well as carving jibes, the Blitz storms onto the podium with such confidence.
