Freerace sounds martial, but can also be very comfortable. Like the new RRD. The slightly rounded deck with a slightly flattened edge shape is very comfortable to stand on - even in the outer position of the straps. This makes it easy to keep the very free and lively gliding board on course, it feels light and small underfoot. And for all its agility - which provides maximum riding fun even in medium planing winds - the Fire Storm always remains perfectly under control, always keeps the nose down and we were already travelling fast on Lake Garda - sometimes well powered up beyond 50 km/h.
The fin also conveys a "loose", low-drag feeling, does not offer maximum counter-pressure in light winds and has its strengths more in the medium and top speed range.
That's all the good stuff, but the big hit is yet to come, namely in the jibe: We have rarely ridden a board that can be put into a turn so mindlessly, from full speed with a lot of pressure and also in choppy water. The board also turns super tightly at will, never hops or cuts off and glides out of the turn with plenty of speed.
