The JP-Australia Magic Ride offers a lot of tipping stability and at the same time amazingly good and quite sporty freeride characteristics. Here we show you the features that make this possible.

The prototype of a successful freeride board is the JP-Australia Magic Ride A good reference for long-lasting freeride fun, even for advanced windsurfers. With its low weight, the board planes early and smoothly and is above all very stable in the water. This pleasant and safe stability accompanies us throughout the entire test course, even in strong winds, jibes and turns - the Magic Ride proves to be particularly easy to surf at all times. For intermediates, the straps are positioned far inwards, but experienced freeriders will also find all the dowels they need. The board can also be propelled in a sporty manner, flying over choppy water - not quite as free as the Blast and Eagle, but sporty and yet with comfortable damping.

With a length of 2.55 metres, the JP-Australia Magic Ride offers plenty of stability when turning, even when changing sides in front of the mast. Those who can already planing surf will also learn the power jibe without any hurdles, as the board glides into the jibe with moderate foot pressure, enables wide and medium radii and glides particularly well through the turn. At the same time, it is stable and forgives misloads generously. The 52 mm fin pulls you upwind like a drag lift, both when dipping and planing. However, we would recommend a shorter fin for regular planing with sails under 7.5 square metres.

Conclusion on the JP-Australia Magic Ride

The JP-Australia Magic Ride is a well-balanced freeride board with great potential for progression.

The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
