The price/weight ratio of the We One is a real argument. According to the manufacturer, a full carbon construction with a very light weight is available for 1790 euros. The board with the particularly high curved nose is more stable in the water when bobbing than the 76 cm width would suggest, and the wide, long nose is also stable when turning. The strap options are aimed at freeriders and fit well. In the planing phase, you can feel the unusual shape in the planing surface with a very short flat surface (38 cm) and one centimetre of upturn ("rocker") at the tail. As the sail draft increases, the board rises more steeply and requires more draft or more riding technique (dropping, pumping) to get going in light winds.
In the entire planing wind range, it convinces with very good damping and controllability and continues to carry the bow quite steeply and high above the water. Even if the board moves up and down a little more in larger choppy waves, it conveys a lot of safety and glides stably around the transverse axis. When it comes to acceleration and speed in light planing winds, it cannot keep up with the Fanatic Eagle or Starboard Carve; only with a good sail draft can it be surfed with freeride-like stability over the fin. The high-quality Sonntag fin supplied (not included in the price) has very low drag even in strong winds.
A very comfortable, easy-to-control freeride board - for consistently sufficient wind.
Control in strong winds, ride comfort
Moderate sliding properties

Deputy Editor in Chief surf
Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
