On landThe Shark is equipped with very comfortable straps and large, extra-thick pads under the heels. The shape is comparatively stretched (unchanged from last year). In the front area, the continuous, light V is minimally double concave.
On the waterThe Fanatic may not look as trendy as some of the other shapes in the group, but on the water the shape, which has remained unchanged for several years now, is a cut above many of its competitors. Thanks to its lightweight construction, the board feels super light underfoot. It accelerates as if water friction had simply been cancelled out and is at the forefront of speed in every wind range. Surfers with higher performance requirements in particular will enjoy the upscale LTD version.
With medium smoothness and a hard-direct feel - but with a little feeling it is easy to control - you can trim the Fanatic nicely over the fin. The board reacts sensitively to course corrections and jibes easily and smoothly. Surfers with good jibing technique won't find a board that can be manoeuvred better and with more speed through medium radii. Due to the comparatively more tippy water position, it is not as pontoon-like stable in wobbly jibes as the very wide boards in the group.
For us, it's a sporty classic that we always like to have on test.
