Fanatic is where extremes meet. With the longest board (Viper) and the widest board (Shark) of the entire test group, all conceivable wishes of beginners and intermediates are catered for in the maximum range. With no other brand are the differences as noticeable as between the two Fanatic boards. And while you can still find comparable models with a different brand logo to the Shark, the Viper is almost unique in the shop.
On land: The Shark hardly differs from a normal freeride board, only the additional strap positions at the front reveal that surfers who have just completed their first course have also been considered here. You'll find normal rough standing varnish on the deck and soft pads under the feet. A nice feature of both Fanatic boards is that the fin can be attached without tools.
On the water: The Shark is the sportiest glider in the test. At first, a little more pressure builds up in the sail, it doesn't glide quite as smoothly as the JP Fun Ride, but then the Shark speeds over the planing threshold and races freely and high across the lake. Still easy to control, but quite demanding for surfers right after the first course. On the other hand, the board offers the sportiest potential for frequent planing with larger sails. Wide planing jibes are also very harmonious with a lot of pressure.
