Detonation, pressure wave or simply insane fun - the name Blast can be translated in many different ways. And this classic shape also contains a diverse mix. Despite its comparatively narrow width, the board planes very well, accelerates explosively and offers experienced freeriders rapid jibing options. The underwater hull of the Blast is designed with a moderately pronounced V-shape without concaves. Only under the bow is there a slight double concave in a rounded V-shape.
The straps can be mounted on the grippy pads (thin under the toes, doubled under the heels) in an inside freeride all-round position or in an even more moderate outside position for sporty, fast freeride/freerace. In both strap positions, you stand comfortably on the heavily rounded deck at the back and find it easy to get on. The board then hangs very compact, agile and small-looking on the foot. While it hardly tilts around the longitudinal axis, the bow follows the chop up and down slightly noticeably, but without any control problems: Even with really high sail pull and speed, the board never rises unintentionally and is easy to steer. On the straight at top speed, the board feels cushioned under the soles and comfortable - but still fast - and also glides perfectly through wind holes.
In the jibe, it is more the good turning characteristics than the gliding characteristics that are convincing. The board allows very variable radii with little foot pressure and also planes well - if you steer it cleanly through the turn. The Blast impresses with its agility, coupled with very good control and damping, even when full throttle surfing in choppy water. Even light surfers can steer the board well and chase it through tight jibes almost playfully with little resistance.
The Blast is a fast and easy-to-control board for experienced freeriders - with a particularly sporty feel and great jibing potential.
