With its lightweight SLS construction, the Duotone Eagle not only achieves the lightest weight of all test boards, but also appears correspondingly agile and lively. The slightly smaller width also contributes to this. With a little trick, namely a full 2.50 metres in length, the board still planes very smoothly and subjectively light-footed, accelerates powerfully and conveys a lively feeling even in light planing winds.
It reacts well to foot control - but is also somewhat more sensitive to chop on the water surface. Although the control remains in the "good" range, the board dances more lively over the crests of the waves in choppy water than a more stoic and stable JP Magic Ride, for example. With straps mounted on the outside, you can enjoy a comfortable stance on the pleasant rounding of the deck, have good control over the board and still have enough "space" behind the heels to slip in and out easily - simply an ideal freeride position. The inside position is reserved for advancing riders with small sails.
The Eagle takes its light-footed feel into the jibe and can be edged with little foot pressure and steered reactively through the turn, even in quite tight jibes the tail does not jump out of the turn. With medium-wide radii, the board can still be steered well in the turn with more feeling than effort, without losing its good planing speed - the Eagle always comes out of the jibe particularly quickly in mirror-smooth and rough water.
But if you prefer to go full throttle into wide carving jibes with a 7.8 sail and push the sail deep onto the water, you should go straight for the Freeraceboard Jag from Duotone, because the Eagle will prefer to turn into the "normal", slightly tighter cut power throat radius without very active guidance. Nevertheless, the Duotone Eagle "carves" better than a Verso or Magic Ride. With its light-footed overall impression, the Eagle is also recommended for lighter surfers with small sails, but is particularly good as an agile and manoeuvre-oriented all-round freerider with no weaknesses.
The Duotone Eagle is very balanced, light and agile and is a convincing board for intermediates and as a versatile (manoeuvring) freerider: for very fluid, highly variable gliding turns, for good speed with a comfortable stance - and with a lively ride feel.
