The JP-Australia Super Ride doesn't shy away from even the fastest jibes and is the more agile complement to the Magic Ride, which appeals to more experienced and lighter surfers.

If you like your freeride board a bit sportier than average, you should take a look at the JP-Australia Super Ride.

As the sportiest freeride board in the range, the JP-Australia Super Ride complements its brother Magic Ride perfect. The board planes a little more freely and higher over the waves, which provides an almost freerace feeling, especially on downwind courses. Despite the smaller overall width, which also brings a little more life into the board at top speed, the shape with the proportionally wider tail is very easy to control. While the board can be actively trimmed and steered around the longitudinal axis as desired, the nose maintains the set flying height over the crests of the waves as stably as if laminated onto the water, even at top speed and in choppy water.

The outside position of the straps suits the sporty characteristics very well, the deck shape is kept a little chunkier underfoot for more performance than on the very comfort-orientated Magic Ride. The 73 centimetre wide board with its even volume distribution only looks slightly smaller than the Magic Ride.

Sports modus in the jibe

It also planes very smoothly, even if it can't quite keep up with its stablemate over the first few metres and also in a light planing wind. Only good pressure in the sail elicits the shot of speed from the Super Ride, which can be read on the speedometer and also gives a more tingling ride. For similar or even better light wind performance than on the Magic Ride, you should opt for the equally wide Super Ride 135.

In the jibe, the Super Ride unleashes the full sports programme: you can steer the board precisely and actively through the jibe, pull quite tightly with solid foot pressure or carve particularly well through the turn. The narrow shape is easy to tilt into the turn, and with a little active steering, the rail cuts cleanly through the choppy water, the board doesn't stand up and you can set off on the new course at top speed.

surf verdict on the JP-Australia Super Ride 125

The JP-Australia Super Ride is the sportier, more agile alternative to the Magic Ride. Lighter surfers in particular can enjoy a wider jibing spectrum and an even faster feeling - with only slightly higher demands on riding skills.
