"Because we had to build a new mould anyway, we have now brought forward the adjustments originally planned for 2019," explains Leif Wilkesmann from Tabou distributor New Sports when asked by surf. "Adjustments" means that the shapes of sizes 125 and 135 are slightly wider and shorter. "The basic principle of a board that is easy to planing and easy to ride thanks to its length should remain the same in any case," assures Wilkesmann.
Rocket fans can breathe a sigh of relief - the effortless planing behaviour of the board has actually been retained, the shape converts sail pull into speed without any significant resistance. The adaptations have a more noticeable effect on the straight: In full planing, the new Rocket feels livelier, freer and conveys a slightly sportier feeling than its predecessor. In our opinion, this is a good move, as the control already typical of the Rocket when jibing and heating up remains at a high level.
Tabou shaper Fabien Vollenweider has managed to give the once cosy Rocket a little more pep without affecting the character of the board - easy handling, control and strong glide - too much.
