Surf recommendation: If you're looking for maximum early planing power, go for the wider Futura. The Carve, on the other hand, is perfect for both motivated intermediates and gybing cracks. Carve - welcome back!

On land:The standing area is strikingly domed. The stern and bow are kept narrow. The fin sits in a tuttle box with two screws. There are plenty of strap options. Starboard has opted for a continuous V shape with only minimal concaves at the tail.

On the water: New at the start and a direct hit: with the Carve, Starboard shows after a three-year break that it still knows what a model freerider should look like. Now the Futura remains the pure freerace early planing fraction with large camber sails, the Carve can do almost everything even better. The standing position on the comparatively narrow dome-shaped deck is very mature and comfortable in every setup and the board is easy to handle, lively but still easy to control. The planing position is free, in the wood-carbon construction with a crisp ride feel - with a stable planing position and no tendency to lift the nose too high in strong winds - which keeps the "fear factor" pleasantly within limits even when powered up. The board really lives up to its name in the jibe: it carves through the turn with a secure grip as if it were being pulled through the turn by runners, you can turn it really tight or simply shred through the turn at full throttle with the sail down. Overall, the board looks comparatively small and compact, even very good surfers will certainly not get bored on the Carve. The Carve planes well, is one of the fastest freeriders across the entire wind range and is certainly the most versatile board in the group in terms of jibing characteristics.
