The Starboard Futura has an extravagant and modern look. The flat, wide shape is particularly easy to make fast - whatever your riding ability. The board can also take a figure-eight sail.

On landThe widest board in the group has improved strap positions and now also has the "normal" freeride position that was criticised as missing in the last test. There is no centre strap, but this makes no sense given the width of the tail. The bow is extremely thinned out, turning the concave deck shape into a bird bath in rainy weather. The underwater hull is also deeply hollowed out double concave up to the fin box, garnished with a clear V far forward in the bow area.

On the waterThe 122 Futura is a board that convinces with good control and very good average speed. The planing position is not quite as freely raised above the chop as the larger 133, but the board always remains well under control and can also be made fast without effort - especially because it remains extremely stable around the longitudinal axis and always finds its perfect planing position independently. The board feels comfortably cushioned underfoot, which makes it even more comfortable to ride, even at top speed. As expected, the wide shape takes it easy and comfortable when cornering, but is secure on the rail, with only very fast, tight turns having natural limits compared to the "needles" of the group.
