Test 2018: Naish Titan
Test 2018: Naish Titan
Narrow in the bow and stern, wide in the centre. We tested what the new Naish Titan with its round outline can and cannot do particularly well.

Just under 80 centimetres wide in the middle, but with a narrow tail - Naish is also going its own way with the new Titan. A 40 mm MFC fin made of G10 material sits in the tail, which is screwed into a tuttle box. This is necessary because the Titan is officially approved for use with foils and the box is sufficiently reinforced. On the flat deck, the pads are pulled forwards over a large area right up to the planing area, and there is a sporty loop position as well as a loop position suitable for climbers. The pronounced V on the underwater hull is particularly eye-catching, as the board is designed to enter the chop smoothly. On the water: The Titan is initially very stable in the water and you are already standing on the cosy pads when planing. The transition to planing is seamless and without a planing threshold - the acceleration, on the other hand, is more like that of a comfortable luxury saloon than that of a sports car. We found the buttery smooth water behaviour of the board to be particularly positive, with which the Naish irons out annoying chop. In the jibe, the picture is divided: The Titan doesn't like carved jibes as much, the round outline and large width in the centre area prevent the board from carving like it's on rails. However, those who ride normal power jibes are rewarded with stable cornering and thanks to the narrow tail, the Titan can even be turned acceptably tight for a board of this width.

surf conclusion:The Naish Titan convinces as a good-natured freerider and is best suited to surfers who surf with camberless sails and are looking for a stable and easy to surf/jibe board. Those who like to be sporty, hoist 2-cam sails and love carved jibes will probably find the Titan a little too well-behaved. Unfortunately, we were unable to test the board with a foil, but experience has shown that boards with wider tails fit better.
