213 centimetres short, but wide and with a generously dimensioned tail, the Happy takes off. When starting off, the short nose needs to be loaded sensitively, after which the board cruises off in a relaxed manner, swallows chop comfortably and runs up the cross without end. The basic speed and acceleration are more restrained, control and comfort have obviously been prioritised over an extremely sporty ride.
On the wave, the Happy quickly puts a smile on your face, especially in moderate surf with little thrust or in light winds, the board takes the speed exceptionally well through the bottom turn and allows fast, carved cutbacks and wave moves such as takas or backside 360s. The shape is particularly good at riding medium and wide radii, where the board provides very good edge grip and surprisingly variable radii. However, extremely tight hooks over the back foot are noticeably limited due to the tail width, especially in strong winds and powerful waves.
surf conclusion:With the Happy you can get the best out of moderate conditions. If you are looking for a playful board for the North Sea and Baltic Sea, as well as large sails, this is the right choice. Due to its width, you can almost choose a size smaller.
