Waveboard test 2023: The RRD Cult 88 in the individual evaluation with all strengths and weaknesses

With the distinctive wings at the rear, the RRD Cult unchanged for the new season. The straps are slightly harder, but can be moved far forwards and backwards. In the underwater hull, a deep monoconcave and channels combine a straight planing surface with a round bottom curve in the rail area. On the water, the Cult is one of the best planers, even moderate sail draft is immediately converted 1:1 into speed. When powered up, the board runs freely and a little harder than the comfort boards in the group, even in light wind conditions you can go hunting for jump ramps.

On the wave, the RRD is particularly impressive in small and medium wave heights, where it can fully utilise its potential with tight radii over the back foot and turn moderate conditions into a real playground. Only with powerful waves and a lot of wind do the radii turn out a little more moderate with bottom turns over the front foot. At 88 litres, the board is also at the upper end of this group, the 82 would be a more radical alternative.

surf conclusion:The Cult scores as a very fast, planing and hooking skateboard, especially in bump & jump conditions and in moderate surf.
