Lots of speed, maximum control - the new JP-Australia Magic Wave offers the best conditions for powerful jumps.

The JP-Australia Magic Wave is set to work new magic thanks to extensive design changes. The all-rounder has to prove itself in the surf test.

For the 2026 season, the tail of the Magic Wave has been made wider, the straps moved further back and the nose area slimmer. While the underwater surface is almost flat on the centreline, the board has plenty of rocker in the edge area - the aim is to combine planing and turning. The comfortable and consistently double-bolted straps have been top for years, unfortunately the pads are now slightly thinner.

Good mix of control and agility

The board is stable in the water when whobbling around, although you don't usually have to worry about that for long, as the Magic Wave planes excellently and accelerates powerfully to top speed. This characteristic is absolutely worth its weight in gold, especially on flat water, at wave spots with currents and when hunting for jump ramps. When powered up, the board does not offer a rail feeling like Quatro, Goya or Patrik, but it runs with a good mix of control and a lively, sporty feeling. The Magic Wave also conjures up plenty of good rides on the wave: it pulls through long radii with a lot of control and can now even be pulled up to the lip with a little more variability than in previous years. Because sufficient speed is the basic requirement for radical cutbacks, the JP makes really powerful turns.

In keeping with its nature, the Thruster offers a lot of grip on the tail, and the shape suits powerful carved radii a little better than Takas and slides. The JP can get over the fact that there are boards in this group that turn even more light-footedly and radically, because the Magic Wave simply doesn't allow itself any weaknesses.

surf verdict on the JP-Australia Magic Wave 85

The new Magic Wave works magically, especially in typical Euro waves for jumping and powerful turns. Side-offshore conditions are also no problem, although the Ultimate Wave offers a little more variability for this.
